FaresProFor the second consecutive year, more than 25,000 readers have
voted Cape Town as the Best Foreign City at the eight UK Telegraph
Travel Awards.
Last year, Cape Town became the first non-European destination to be named favourite foreign city.
Bangu Masisi, General Manager South African Tourism, said, “This is a
great coupe for South Africa. Cape Town with its dynamic mix of
multiculturalism, the flattop pf Table Mountain, the history with
Nelson Mandela’s long term cell on Robben Island, best cuisine,
winelands with endless scenery, along with the wildlife in the harbour
such as whales and seals and on the land including gorillas and
ostriches make it a winner with everyone who visits.“
She said, “We will be focussing on other urban experiences during our
promotions to the trade and consumer over the coming year to boast
about our country’s diversity. We hope that Cape Town being voted the
best foreign city will entice more Australians to visit South Africa to
see for themselves what a diverse experience with such natural beauty
awaits them in our country”
The awards, the biggest survey of UK residents travelling habits, also
saw South Africa voted as runner up: favourite holiday destination.
Bangu said, “When people visit South Africa, they find an exhilarating
country with spectacular scenery, and a great climate. There is nothing
like a South African experience filled with unique wildlife and
cultures which span 11 languages. When you visit you will receive a
true welcome by the people, who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay
there.
She said, “It is really excellent news that my country has become a favourite holiday destination.” |
